Zaha Hadid has won the competition to design the new Guggenheim-Hermitage Museum in Vilnius, Lithuania, beating Daniel Libeskind and Massimiliano Fuksas.
The New York-based Guggenheim Foundation will share exhibition space with the Russian Hermitage Museum at the site, which is expected to attract up to 400,000 visitors a year, and will focus on exhibitions of new media art.
A joint team will now complete a feasibility study for the Hadid scheme this summer, with the institution due to open in 2011, two years before the Guggenheim’s Abu Dhabi museum.

Jean Nouvel, the bold French architect known for such wildly diverse projects as the muscular Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis and the exotically louvered Arab World Institute in Paris, has received architecture’s top honor, the Pritzker Prize.

It's time for another selection of dusted but interesting threads.
Here is another NTBM (Not to be missed) Archive.
The first is a good discussion on the design of a tomb for mother by Sunilarch. For those of you in search of architectural expressions in foreign languages, check out and add to the PPB² Lexicon initiated by Michel. Rendering with Photoshop is explained by Marcday using his Worncall technique. You might want to do a search to find more of his images on the forum. Another demonstration of PPB²'s peer reviewing is this discussion on arrestme's kitchen design. Last is an impressive 3rd semester project of a meditation centre in Tel Aviv by Bakbek.

This week, we are implementing "NTBM (Not To Be Missed) ARCHIVE 01".
Let's start it with one of the most popular, and longest threads of pushpullbar: Architecture in the cinema by sigue2000. Visit it yourself and find out what all buzz is about. In Trees taking over, you will see some genuinely amazing photos taken by Mikael's mom in Cambodia. kwistenbiebel's Please your suggestions about bathroom! shows how he fully developed one of his projects with a little help of pushpullbar peers, step by step. S.P.A.C - Competition by nuraH surprised many of us by his clear architectural vision and professional presentation. digdoi's Oscar Niemeyer Museum, Curitiba takes you right in to this masterpiece by the Brazilian master. Some amazing details never seen before, thanks, digdoi! And lastly, jake showcased his state-of-art architectural renderings in Piranesi renders done during beta test. He also talks about some tips and tricks of this "Photoshop on steroids"
